Serving at Sheridan Elementary School

Do you like to read to children?  Help is needed with reading programs during the week at Sheridan School located at 1403 W. Walnut St., Bloomington, IL 61701. This ministry will break for the summer and resume in September.
Sheridan Reading Program Reading Program
Currently, Reading Volunteers are needed. The Reading Specialist at Sheridan has shared, that this program has helped children who are behind to greatly improve. Volunteers meet with a child at the school on a regular basis to help the child with his or her reading skills on a one-on-one basis.
 Back Pack Program Back Pack Program
During the school year, we provide backpacks every Friday filled with food for at-risk children at Sheridan School. We meet every Thursday evening at 4pm to sort the food and fill the backpacks. The process takes 45 minutes to an hour. Children over eight are welcome to join their parents to help.
